Meet Trip

Trip embarked on his journey into the art of tattooing at the age of 17, beginning his craft in Stanton, California, within the confines of his grandmother's residence. Initially, tattooing served as a creative outlet to steer clear of trouble, as he nurtured his passion while simultaneously pursuing a career as an Aerospace Welder. A decade-long tenure at Boeing honed his skills until a pivotal moment in 2016 altered the trajectory of his life. Following a harrowing motorcycle accident on the 57 freeway on December 10th, Trip found himself confined to a hospital bed for a month, enduring numerous surgeries and blood transfusions.

In the wake of this life-altering event, Trip resolved to pivot fully towards his passion for tattooing, bidding farewell to his welding career. Commencing his formal tattooing journey at Illuminati in Anaheim, California, Trip honed his craft and subsequently ventured into various local establishments in Anaheim and Santa Ana. In 2018, an opportunity arose at Cast of Crowns in Laguna Beach, where Trip began to carve out a name for himself within the industry, catering to a diverse clientele, including notable personalities.

2018 also marked a significant personal milestone for Trip, as he met his now-wife, Taryn. Following a swift courtship, Trip proposed to Taryn after three months, leading to their elopement in Las Vegas, NV, in 2020. As their family expanded with the arrival of their daughter Skye and son Ryatt, Trip and Taryn assumed joint ownership of Ink by Trip. While Trip focuses on his artistry, Taryn manages logistical aspects, ensuring clients receive a seamless experience from booking appointments to post-care support.

Amidst the joys of parenthood, 2018 brought profound sorrow with the loss of Trip's mother, Marlette, to Lupus. This devastating loss prompted Trip to reevaluate his priorities and draw strength from his mother's unwavering support, instilling in him a resilience that fueled his artistic pursuits.

In 2020, an exciting opportunity arose for Trip at The Black Lantern in Dana Point, where he collaborated with renowned tattoo artist London Reese, marking a transformative chapter in his career. Following three and a half years at The Black Lantern, Trip and Taryn made the decision to relocate to Stay Sacred Studios in Lake Forest, CA, alongside close friends Brad Reis and Jon Marquez. Embracing a renewed perspective on life and fueled by familial love, Trip remains steadfast in his dedication to elevate his craft and leave an indelible mark on the tattoo industry.

Presently, Trip lends his expertise at Stay Sacred in Lake Forest, CA, where he continues to weave his artistry into the fabric of his clients' lives, aspiring to create unforgettable experiences while shaping the landscape of tattooing.
